Advertised as a barn find with 54,000 miles but looks like it has all the wear and tear of a 20 year old truck. Not sure why people like a 20 year old truck is worth this kind of money.

A 54,000 mile, pre-diesel emissions Cummins probably adds a shit ton of value to some people.
Also, being a 90s Ram, the fact that the bed and cab corners aren’t totally gone is a goddamn miracle in itself.

Pre-emissions/electronics Cummins, they’re like gold. From an owners perspective, they’re easy to make power, durable, and get great mileage, run on lesser quality fuels like heating oil or biodiesel, there only advantage to a newer one is the warranty.

As others have said, ++ for the pre-electronics 12v Cummins. Having owned one myself, I would definitely consider buying this truck.
But not for twenty five thousand goddamned dollars I wouldn’t.

Seconding what everyone here said, to a certain crowd these are gold. The 1996 is not only a pre-emissions vehicle, but it has a P7100 mechanical injection pump. In a diesel the injector pump is the heart of the beast - it performs the functions of a carburetor and ignition module in one - it controls the amount of fuel flow and the timing of the fuel injection. Much like a lot of hot-rod guys still prefer carbs and distributors over fuel injection and electronic ignition, a lot of diesel guys like the simplicity of a mechanical injection system.
The famous “P-pump” is stupid simple to work on and practically indestructible. You can also tune the engine with a few hand tools vice needing to spend a lot of money for an electronic handheld tuner for an electronic injection diesel.
I had a 2001, which was a VP44 pump - a hybrid mechanical/electrical injection system which was panned by the diesel community for being fragile and difficult to work on, rebuild, or tune.

Apparently big chunks of missing paint with rust showing classes as "as new condition" these days, I shall have to remember that next time I sell an old car!

Many want. Extra points for teal paint and working mans mirrors. But at 25K, nah. Maybe 15K. 20K if I've been hitting the CP. 25K is a CP laced with speed.

Huge heavy crack pipe. In my reality it is worth 8K. I know it’s wrong but I can’t justify that. My 454 truck will keep up with a stock 12 valve at least.
